Encaustic painting, or hot wax painting, involves using heated beeswax to which colored pigments are added. The process of building and “reliefing” the wax mirrors Donna’s life process of evolving and letting go to bring light to the true essence hidden within. Using this principle, Donna infuses layers of wax, paint, mixed media, elements of nature, and stencils of her photography to create highly textured art pieces that are alluring and vibrant.
